Optiplex Sff
Based on a 400 MHz FSB, Socket 478. Is there a limit to the speed of the processor that you can use if it meets the specifications
I use a Dell Optiplex GX60 SFF for IPCOP firewall 1.4.18. It came with a Celeron 1.8Gzh. The BIOS reports as 400Mhz FSB. Is there a limit to the speed of the processor that I can improve. Many websites say that the models are supplied with 1.7-2.2 GHz Celeron chip, but I know there are more speed for high availability that meet 400MHz FSB Socket 478. It seems that RAM is more important than processor specifications, but I want a good solid box security software for the future.
Memory is the king … You're right … The cache is next (since it is memory as !)… Your Celeron is too small a cache … See if you can get a processor technology has HT (HyperThreading) and a cache of everything and not worry too Mhz! Make sure your board supports HT (or flash available to support) or live with what you have.
