Is there a uncompressing software for mac OS 8.6?
I am trying to uncompress a 7z file that is on a dvd. Is there a uncompressing software for a blue and white powermac pc with mac OS 8.6?
In fact, in Q3 1999, the time of OS 8.6, Apple’s market share was 4.5%. It was never as low as 2 percent.
First, you can’t change anything about a file on a DVD. Copy it to your hard drive. Next, tell us the exact name of the file. I don’t know what “7z” means. Is that a type of compression? Is it the name of the file? Do you know who compressed the file? I assume this isn’t a DVD video, but simply data burned to a DVD because it has higher capacity than a CD. If you know what type of compression was applied to the file, you can get much farther along at decompressing it.
Goto versiontracker, change the category to “Mac Classic” and search for decompress. A couple of items are there such as “MacZip” and “MacGzip”. StuffIt Expander is very limited (SIT and ZIP files only) and quite quirky; it came with OS 8.6 but their 7.0.3 update is available from the link below.
