AIT-3 tape format also has the fiber-channel interface. AIT tape technology is scalable and user friendly. AIT format uses Helical-scan technique that provides 400,000 hours MTBF. Information is recorded in MIC at manufacturing time, when the cartridge media loads into the drive and when portions are up-dated as load, write or read sequence. Data access time in AIT tape format is reduced to 50% in comparison to conventional techniques. MIC chip increases the searching speed, boosts the data access time and reliability. AIT tape format provides more reliable and faster access to information of volume serial.

AIT tape format provides greater data integrity and helps in better management of the data-set by utilizing partition notes and user specified volume.
